Sensory Friendly Films At The AMC
It’s always encouraging to hear about a company that has gone that extra mile to make the lives of others a little easier. AMC Theaters has added the Sensory Friendly Films, a program designed to accommodate families affected by autism. The special screenings at AMC Theaters where inspired by a women with an Autistic child who was forced to leave an afternoon screening of “Hairspray” after her daughter starting walking around the theater. Sensory Friendly Films screening keep the lights on, the sound low and promote singing, clapping and dancing during the movie. The first Sensory Friendly Films launch was such a success (300 people came) that it expanded to 67 AMC theaters. Knowing that some children are on special diets, the AMC also allows parents to bring their own drinks and food to the show. The program has allowed many parents the chance to take their special needs children to the theater, something they could never do before.
The AMC has since announced that they will be adding an employment program for autistic teens and adults. If you would like to know more visit AMC Sensory Friendly Films to families affected by autism
